Karen began recording her solo album in 1979. She invested $400,000 of her own money and hired the finest musicians and engineers to help her record her “masterpiece”. In the end she and producer Phil Ramone loved the album. It was one of the most joyous times in her life. Much to Karen’s disbelief she was convinced by A&M executives to shelf her album. After several years of fan requests the album was released in October 1996.

Le sourire et le conte du cœur.
( last version )
Quand les
ombres de la
nuit reviennent
sur les roses
pour donner une
chanson le tendre
soupir m’invite
à comprendre le
chant de la mort
et alors le sourire
devient le portrait
d’un sonnet douloureux:
j’écoute le silence
qui pénètre dans
le vide, j’essaie de
fuir en cherchant
l’harmonie dans la
lueur des étoiles…
Francesco Sinibaldi
The recordings on this album were released by Richard in another attempt at profiting from his deceased sister. Many of the albums best tracks including “Truly You” were left off and later leaked by Phil Ramone. Richard was the one who railroaded Karen’s record because he knew her solo success meant the end of him.
