Pamela Verona Rubino is the originator of this website Leadsister.com. The following is a brief statement she wrote regarding her connection with Carpenters and most specifically Karen Carpenter.
I started a Karen Carpenter fan site back in 1996 when i discovered their music. It started like this. I was dealing with Anorexia and ran across her story. Then my husband at the time bought me a CD and I fell in love with their music. When i went deeper into the story of her life. I felt a connection because I lost my 3 year old son October 1, 1996. I could relate to Karen’s parents for their loss. To his Mom for discovering Karen and to Richard for being a sibling because my son had siblings I had to help grieve. I fell deeper into the Anorexia and could relate to Karen’s struggles through my own life. The Carpenters music got me through a lot pain and help me cry when I needed to because tears where hard to come by. So in 1996, I started a Bereaved Parents website and a fan page about Karen Carpenter that later turned into LeadSister.com. After years, it came that my life was changing, I was trying to recover from the Anorexia and became busy with a lot of positive changes in my life and didn’t want to see Leadsister.com just sit there. So it was time to search for a new owner to bring her back to life. Thanks to Rick Henry for being the one to do so and doing a great job at that!
